Waterproof SMB Antenna for Harsh Environments
Bulgin's Buccaneer SMB Antenna is a robust and completely
waterproof antenna specifically developed for three popular
frequency bands.
Integrating the antenna with its waterproof connector reduces
the total number of connectors in the RF chain, thus reducing
insertion losses and effectively increasing the total system
gain.
The
PX0407
covers the 2.4GHz band popular for wireless LAN, Bluetooth and
Zigbee, while the
PX0408
covers the UHF 440-470MHz band popular for general purpose radio
applications. The
PX0409
covers the 850-900/1800/1900MHz bands popular for GSM/Cellular
applications.
Designed similar to the Bulgin's SMB Buccaneer connector system,
the sealed antenna has an integrated SMB connector with an
overall diameter of just 19mm. The IP68 rated antenna
provides complete protection from harsh environments plus gold
plated electrical connections to ensure system performance and
reliability.
The mating panel connector with an SMB jack (PX0414)
is terminated with RG-174 cable in 0.5m, 1.0m or 1.5m lengths.
The PX0414 mating panel connector has a panel fixing hole of
16mm diameter.
A two-part interconnect solution with removable antenna and a
panel connector simplifies the installation and testing process.
The sealed system ensures an environmental seal at the
interconnect point to maintain enclosure integrity.
Typical applications include industrial, scientific and medical
(ISM) radio for instrumentation and telemetry systems.
Additional applications may include base stations and outdoor
hotspot installations, specifically for wireless LAN, GSM and
Bluetooth communication equipment.

Requirements

Regal’s
new “Space-Saver” PC Board Edge-Mounted BNC connector for low
profile PCB applications.
The Space-Saver has a "notch" in the connector that slips over
the edge of a PC board prior to soldering, forming a tight
mechanical fit that transfers the majority of the rotational
energy to the PC board instead of more vulnerable solder joints.
Another advantage of Regal's Space-Saver BNC edge mounted design
is that the center pin and connector body are soldered directly
to a PC board, minimizing the "antenna effect" caused by typical
elevated mounting approaches and associated EMI/RFI problems at
higher frequency ranges.
The new Regal "Space-Saver" BNC connector has a 75 ohm impedance
